BG Paul C. Genereux Jr. graduated from Manhattan College in May 1972 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He entered military service in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in October of that year. After five years enlisted service where he attained the rank of Specialist 5th Class, he was commissioned a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) in February 1978. 1LT Genereux first assignment was the Operations Officer for the 300th Civil Affairs Group, USAR, in Riverdale, Maryland.
Genereux transferred in October 1978 to the New York Army National Guard and was assigned Scout Platoon Leader, Combat Support Company 1st Bn. 71st Infantry Regiment on Staten Island. After several leadership positions in the 71st Infantry, he commanded the Combat Support Company, 71st Infantry in October 1980. Genereux was promoted to Captain in January 1981. CPT Genereux transferred to the 1st Squadron, 101st Cavalry and commanded A Troop in 1983. After his second company command, CPT Genereux was assigned as Intelligence Officer and later Operations Officer in the 101st Cavalry. He was promoted to Major in January 1989 and continued to serve as the battalion Executive Officer upon the reorganization of the Squadron to an Armor Battalion in 1993. In October 1995 MAJ Genereux transferred to the 27th Separate Infantry Brigade in Syracuse, N.Y. as the Civil Military Affairs Officer and was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in December 1995. He returned to the 1st Battalion, 101st Cavalry to command the unit in October 1996. After nearly four years of battalion command, LTC Genereux was assigned as Assistant Chief of Staff, Logistics, 42nd Infantry Division in Troy. He was promoted to Colonel in July 2000.
In January 2001, Col. Genereux was assigned as Deputy Commander of the 53rd Troop Command in Valhalla, N.Y. During this assignment, he was the National Guard Task Force Deputy Commander during the response to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in New York City. In January 2002, Genereux was assigned as Commander, 3rd Armored Brigade, 42nd Infantry Division, headquartered in Buffalo.
In 2004, he received his assignment as the Deputy Commander for Maneuver, 42nd Infantry Division. Genereux was promoted to Brigadier General in June of 2004. As the deputy commander, Genereux mobilized and deployed with the 42nd Infantry Division and Task Force Liberty to North Central Iraq, providing command and control for the combat and stability operations of the task force.
Brig. Gen. Genereux is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, the Infantry Officer Advanced Course, the Armor Officer Basic Course, Command and General Staff College. He graduated from the United States Army War College class of 2001 and was awarded a Master of Strategic Studies Degree.
His awards include the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, the Army Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters, the Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal with seven oak leaf clusters, the National Defense Service Medal with one star, the Iraq Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terror Service Medal and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Mobilization device. In the civilian sector, BG Genereux is employed as the Director of Health Facilities for Torcon Incorporated in Westfield, N.J. |
Command Sergeant Major Richard F. Fearnside was born in Albany, New York. He entered the Army in July 1974 and attended Basic Training and Infantry Advance Individual Training at Fort Polk, Louisiana.
His assignments include Headquarters 1st Battalion, 105th Infantry, Company A 1st Battalion, 105th Infantry, Headquarters 1st Brigade, 42d Infantry Division, and Headquarters 2nd Battalion, 105th Infantry. His Command Sergeant Major assignments include 1st Battalion 108th Infantry in Auburn, NY, and the 27th Infantry (Enhanced) Brigade in Syracuse, NY.
Command Sergeant Major Fearnside has served in every leadership position from Team Leader to Command Sergeant Major. He has also served as Operations Sergeant and NCO Academy instructor. In May 2004, CSM Fearnside mobilized and deployed as the 42Dd ID and Task Force Liberty Command Sergeant Major to North Central Iraq, serving as the Senior NCO in the conduct of combat and stability operations of the Task Force during OIF III.
His military education includes all four Noncommissioned Officers Development Courses culminating in his graduation from the Sergeant's Major Academy Non-Resident Course Class 23 in June of 1997 and attendance at the Command Sergeant Major Designee Course. In addition, he is an Army National Guard certified Safety Specialist (GS-0018). Command Sergeant Major Fearnside has earned an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Hudson Valley Community College.
